The CRV has a long list of merits. The interior is intelligently made and full of high quality materials and designs. However, it is a perfect SUV to have around in the city.
Part of the attraction of Chevrolet and other brands of cars is the fact that they appear so often in the movies. Rock and roll films featuring Elvis Presley had plenty of sparkling Chevy rims while James Bond wouldn’t have been so cool if he wasn’t driving an Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger. Then there is the car chase in Bullitt which made everyone want a Ford Mustang.
The number one movie in the world at the moment flaunts brawns, hot babes, and most especially fast cars. With a high-octane haul of 180 million dollars worldwide, Fast Five has proven once and for all that man’s infatuation with cars is unyielding. Sure, the pool of skimpy clad bombshells and star power has propelled it to a monstrous head start but without the amazing cars, they might as well rename it to Chip n’ Dales and Their Skimpy Masseuses. Not that I denigrate these kinds of acts or the ilk but I’m pretty sure they can’t hold a candle to the colossal car-inspired movie that is Fast Five.
The Fast and the Furious franchise has always featured great cars. My personal favorite from the bunch has got to be the 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS454 coupe. It was featured in the first film and in the fourth one. The inclusion of the car alone made me watch the movie. Now, I haven’t seen the latest installment and if I had to choose I would go further back in the exclusive list of Chevy’s finest midsize cars; the 1966 and 1967 Chevelle. I call them my Fast Two.
The 1966 Chevelle is a midsize wonder of a car. Its engine growls like a lion on steroids. The power that this car generates in its relatively small body is mind blowing. I would love to see a female protagonist ravage it like the final girl in slasher films: vengeful, animalistic driving; pure heaven. While they’re at it, why not throw in the 1967 Chevelle in the mix? It’s slightly more powerful than the 66 model yet it looks less imposing. Its seamless handling and potent engine would be perfect for car chases and campy escape maneuvers.
I would really be delighted if these two marvelous midsize hot-rods appeared in the movie. It’s highly unlikely but I’d still be watching Fast Five this weekend and get my high-octane fix. Hopefully my Fast Two would surprise me with a cameo. Fingers crossed.
