Awesome Chevy 22 inch rims

Chevy rims – either custom ones or aftermarket – are a great way to improve your Chevy. It doesn’t matter whether you are looking to go for s10 wheels that match the color of your car or shiny chrome ones to add that touch of bling that is so cool these days. If you want to customize your wheels and make it more personal to you, upgrading your rims is a great place to start.

The Chevrolet has been an important feature of the American car industry for many years. Ask anyone and they can probably tell you which year and model they prefer from the 57 Chevy featured in many songs such as those by Prince. There is a certain fantasy associated with this make of car that you just don’t get with other models of automobile. It may be because the Chevy 57 convertible has appeared in so many Hollywood films.

Probably one of the most popular cars is the 1957 Chevy Bel Air or baby Cadillac as it is also known. This model is still popular today with many people looking for chevy rims and wheels to use to restore their model to its previous glory. Hard to imagine that this car only cost just over $1,00 when it was first launched although that was a lot of money in the late 50’s. This particular model of Chevrolet has become the one of the most collectible in the history of American automobiles. To me it signifies everything great from the 1950’s i.e. the music, the dress code etc.

Chevy rims used to come in steel but nowadays they are more likely to be made of plastic. It depends on the model of Chevrolet you own as to how you install these new hubcaps. For example with the Chevy Aveo, Metro and Prizm the installation is a basic snap on wire retention system. They are very simple to fit once you align the wheel covers correctly, you simply give the rim a tap and it will move into place. They can easily fall off those if the plastic tabs are broken when driving.

For this reason or if you drive a Corsica, Cavalier or Beretta you may prefer the fact that the Chevy custom rims are held on behind the lug nuts. Ok so the installation isn’t as easy but you can hardly say it is difficult and the result is that few people lose their new wheels. To change the rims, you need to unscrew the three smaller lugs. The two large ones can remain as they are as the new hubcap will glide over them. Once the rim is on, just secure the smaller lugs once again.

If you own a GM passenger car or a mini van, the hubcaps probably screw onto the lug nuts. Just be careful not to put these on too tight for example don’t use an air tool as it can destroy the threads which can lead to them falling off.

If you drive a Cheverolet truck you can also put custom Chevy Truck Rims onto it to improve the comfort and performance. You can find great bargains online particularly if you choose a rim and wheel package. You will be looking at rims ranging in size from 15 inches right up to 26 inches depending on the model and size of the truck you drive.

Of course if you are planning on restoring a 1957 Chevy properly then you are not going to fit it with plastic Chevy rims. The good news is that there are plenty of places where you can find the used chevy rims and other parts you are looking for so you don’t have to cut corners and up with a half done restoration job. Some people will want to fit Chevy blaxer wheels while others prefer the Chevy corvette. I think that Chevy chrome wheels look the business on most models of this brand of car. Chevy Monte Carlo Rims are also a firm favorite.

Of course if you are going to fit Chevy rims, you should also use Chevy wheels tires to be completely authentic. I have always wanted to own a Chevrolet 53 as I think they look fantastic and have a great body not to mention the V8 engine. I also like the 57 of course and I cannot wait until the C7 Chevy Corvette is released later this year although I doubt I will be able to afford a new one. I am hoping to pick one up second hand though as I am sure that some car enthusiast will buy them and then move onto the next shiny toy launched by the car industry.
